Google+ is the New SEO for Google Search

Jan 18 2012

Google last week showed their hand in terms of social and search integration, and the relationship between Google+ engagement and search rankings. Thought search, and particularly SEO, were dead? Think again! Whilst demand for traditional web search has been in decline, slowly being replaced by the global preference to seek out answers via social channels – Google has been plotting a viable way to bring the two together, in a way that should immediately appeal to the wider market.

Individuals and companies alike, in recent years, have hankered after the holy grail in new business and discoverability via the web … SEO. Now it seems there is a more tangible and social way of affecting your status in search engine ranking pages (SERP’s); namely by having a large Google-using network, and having them +1 and share your articles and posts linking back to your site. Never before has it been as important to get a +1 button on your website, and every page and post therein.

Whilst the backlink isn’t dead – this, it seems, is the way to dramatically affect your search standing versus the competition … with immediate results!

    Hi Matt,

I wish I liked Google+ but I suppose I’m going to have to! I think it’s great to hear that they are going to be incorporating social media into SEO and they do this with Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn but getting higher rankings because of how many people +1 your page/posts is great. I’ll be adding the button to my website, promise! :)

Thank you for this advice Matt, really appreciate it.
